Our terms and Conditions
Cancellations
If We have to cancel a lesson it will be made up at a time to suit the pupil. Lessons cancelled notice or missed by pupils with less than 48 hours will not be refunded or rearranged except at our discretion.
School Terms
We teach all year. We teach a variety of pupils, (adults and children) and, therefore, don’t work to school term times. If a student is not going to be available for lessons due to being away We expect to be given at least a week’s notice.
If a student is going to be missing a block of lessons due to a long holiday (i.e. over the summer holidays), a retainer fee will be charged to hold a weekly lesson slot. This will be charged at 50% of the usual lesson fee for each week missed.
We will give notice in advance if We are unable to teach due to a holiday and will make up lessons / give a credit accordingly
Bank Holidays
We may not teach on Bank Holidays but we are happy to try to rearrange a lesson in the same week or We will credit the lesson if it isn’t possible to make it up.
Terminating lessons
Four weeks’ notice is normally required to discontinue lessons, although this may be waived if we are able to fill your lesson slot immediately. Lessons already paid for will not be refunded.
Practice
Mastering an instrument is as much about practising as musical talent. Students should practise regularly – preferably every day. Short, frequent practice is the most effective way to learn, especially for beginners.
Students must have access to a suitable instrument, which is properly maintained (i.e. tuned regularly) or a touch-sensitive electronic keyboard or digital piano with weighted keys, on which to practise. A dedicated stool or chair, preferably adjustable, is also important. I am more than happy to advise if you need recommendations.
